Traps
Why trap? Trapping is an age-old activity that has been a well proven method of catching animals for fur, meat and money. In this day and age, particularly here in Australia, trapping is seeing a revival, as it allows folk who can't legally own a firearm like children and unlicensed people to still be able to legally capture fur bearing animals like rabbits, foxes, cats, dingoes, and even pigs and goats! This can be done in a discreet manner without having to worry about where your bullet might land or the noise associated with shooting. We stock a large range of feral animal traps that will catch and hold everything including Rabbits, cats, foxes, wild dogs, and pigs.
We stock several types of traps for the avid trapper. Soft catch: 2 & 4 coil spring
A metal coil spring trap with rubber jaw inserts. They actually grip the
animal's foot as much as they prevent cuts and rips. They are extremely well
swivelled to help ensure the animal caught can't twist it's caught limb. Most also
come with shock springs to alleviate tension on both the animal's leg as well as to
minimise impact on the peg and chain. These come in sizes #1.5 (Rabbit/Cat/Fox)
with 2 coil springs to size #3 (Fox/Cat/Wild Dogs) with 2 or 4 springs.
Coil Spring Offset Jaw: 2 & 4 coil spring This is another style
of trap, once again designed in such a way as to minimise leg/bone breaks. This
is achieved by designing the trap with a deliberate ¼" gap between the jaws in
the fully closed position. Very similar to the soft catch, except with the gap.
These also come as 2 or 4 spring units. These are generally for foxes, cats and
bigger animals.
An American made trap that is
rated with the fastest closing velocity for it's size. It is an extremely high
quality and highly efficient trap that is very powerful for it's size. One of the
best for fox - dog sized game. MB750 4 coil spring A larger brother
to the MB650. It is a highly powerful trap. Great for large dogs to pigs up to about
60 kg's. A very popular trap in North America, used on Cougar, Wolves, Beaver and
Wolverines. For the serious Australian trapper.
Bridger # 5 Coil Spring
This is a very big and powerful trap that can catch and hold large dogs
or even pigs up to 55 kg's. They have 4 coils and are about 7" in diameter when
set. Bridger # 5 Double Long Spring. This is the same size as
the Bridger # 5 Coil Spring, but it has 2 big long springs on each end to force
the jaws together. A very powerful trap for larger animals also.
